Nova Teech 4 Review

Nova Tech swimmers returned to their usual Saturday Competition date this past weekend for Nova Tech 4 on Saturday, February 15. Unfortunately, love was not the only thing in the air after Valentine’s Day with lots of sickness passing through families this time of year. However, SWAT still sent 22 swimmers earning a total of 31 best times and 19 first time races. 3 swimmers completed their prerequisites for AA competition.

A small group of Miniwaves swimmers made appearances at the meet. 7 swimmers earned 5 best times and 9 new events. From the Participation end of the pool. Beckett had one new event on the day to add to his list. Miles raced in his first 100 IM as he tries to make a move towards level 1 competition. Kyle likewise swam his first 100 IM with the same goal. Alexa had a best time in the 25 fly and earned official times in two events for the first time. Evie had a best time in the25 free. Charley got an official time in the 25 free for the first time. In the main competition pool in Level 1 Payton Helpard had 3 best times on the day including 8 seconds off in the 50 Free and a massive 32 seconds (!) in the 100 IM.

11 Tidalwaves swimmers gave their best at the meet. Collectively they earned 20 best times and swam 5 races for the first time. Patricia had a 5 second PB in the 50 Free and swam 2 events for the first time. Londyn was a perfect 3 for 3 in best times including a 3 second improvement in the 50 Butterfly. Alex E was also 3 for 3 with his biggest improvement in the 50 Fly with a 14 second drop. He also brought his 50 Free time under 1:00 after a 4 second drop. Victoria swam two events for the first time. Evan raced his first 100 Back. Freddie joined the 3 for 3 club and like Alex had big drops in the 50 fly and 50 free. He also brought his 50 free AND his 50 Fly under 1:00. Olivia had 2 best times and continues the run of big 50 fly improvements with 7 seconds off and her first foray under 1:00 in the event. Xavier was another 3 for 3 swimmer and another big 50 fly best times under 1:00 with 7 seconds of his own off in the event. Harper had 2 best times and had her biggest improvement in the 50 Breaststroke with 12 big seconds off in the race. Kai bettered his 100 IM by 3 seconds. Likewise, Lesi dropped 3 in the 100 IM along with 6 in the 50 Breaststroke.

4 swimmers represented the Novice group. They bettered 6 times and raced 5 events for the first time. Alex B dropped 9 seconds off his 100 Back. He also raced 2 events for the first time including a sub 3:00 200 Free. He is now AA qualified and will begin his journey in the Age Group competition. Sophia had 2 best times with matching 11 second pbs in the200 Free and 100 IM. Both times complete her AA qualification. Camden also joins the AA competition crew after 14 seconds off in the 100 IM as one of his 2 best times. Matt had an 18 second best time in the 200 Free and is very close to finishing his AA quals.

New AA graduates step right into Championship Season with AA Winter Championships in Wolfville February 28-March 2. Nova Tech swimmers get a reprieve. The next Nova Tech meet is April 5. Novice, Tidalwaves, and Miniwaves swimmers get a little break with no swimming over March Break before embarking on the final third of the season.
