Nova Tech 5 Review
On Saturday April 5 Miniwaves and Tidalwaves swimmers returned to the racing pool after a lengthy racing break. This time around the Participation swimmers from Miniwaves journeyed to the Zatzman Sportsplex in Dartmouth in the morning to race the Crusader Participation swimmers. Level 1 and Level 2 swimmers returned to Centennial Pool in Halifax in the afternoon to face off against the Crusaders, the Trojans, and the Wavecutters. 27 SWAT swimmers competed earning a total of 37 best times and 32 new events. 2 swimmers will make the jump to level 1 and 1 swimmer will begin their level 2 career.
In Dartmouth, 10 Miniwaves swimmers entered the Participation competition. Many raced for the first time for SWAT and lots of new events including: 50 Backstroke for many swimmers, and 100 IM for most. Meredith swam in her first SWAT meet and swam 4 new events including the 100 IM. Beckett also swam in 2 new events: the 100 IM and 50 Back. Madhura opened her SWAT racing account with three new races. Miles swam PBs in 3 events including a big 20 second improvement in the 100 IM. Henry will make the jump to Level 1 after his first 100 IM. Kyle earned a best time in the 25 Fly and swam his first 50 Back. Malia had 3 new races. Evie also added 2 new events to her account. Mahek had 2 best times and 1 new event. She bettered her 25 Breaststroke by over 9 seconds. Colden had 1 best time and 2 new events. His first 100 IM was good enough to be added to the Level 1 ranks for the next competition.
Later in the day across the harbour in Halifax, 17 swimmers from Tidalwaves and Miniwaves had their turn to race again. SWAT Level 1 and Level 2 swimmers came away with 30 best times and 9 new events. Patricia had 2 New events and a 9 second best time in the 100 IM. Londyn battled some unruly goggles but managed to ty her previous time in the 50 Fly. Marshall swam strong with 3 best times including 6 seconds in the 100 IM and 3 seconds in the 50 Breaststroke. Jackson made his Level 1 debut with a 7 second improvement in the 100 IM and added 2 new events to his ledger. Madeleine made a 6 second personal best in the 50 Breaststroke. Alex E raced hard to 3 best times. He had a big improvement in the 100 IM by cutting 16 seconds off his previous pb. He also improved his 50 Breaststroke by 8 seconds. Peyton G was a perfect 3 for 3 on the day. She dropped below 1:00 in he 50 Free for the first time after cutting 7 seconds in the event. She also had 13 and 6 second improvements in the 50 Fly and 50 Breaststroke. Liam dropped 6 seconds in his 50 Breaststroke and had 2 new events. Payton H managed 2 best times including: 35(!) seconds off in the 50 Fly and 19 off in the 50 Breaststroke. Victoria had 2 best times of more than 10 seconds after 17 and 11 seconds drops in the 100 IM and 50 Fly. Evan earned a modest PB in the 50 Fly and officially completed 1 other race for the first time. Freddy also had a strong day with 3 best times. He took of 10 seconds int eh100 IM and 9 in the 50 Back. Evelyn from Tidalwaves left the pool with 3 new personal records including: 8 seconds off in the 100 IM and 16 seconds in the 50 Fly. Harper opened her day with a big 15 second best time in the 100 IM. Kai also started with a pb in the 100 IM by 3 seconds. Natalie had a big day with 2 best times. She joins Level 2 competition after dropping under 2:00 in the 100 IM after 12 seconds of improvement. She dropped another 10 in the 50 Fly. Lesi earned himself 2 best times as well after 8 seconds off in the 100 IM and 6 seconds off in the 50 Fly.
Nova Tech swimmers finish their racing season in Truro May 24 and May 25 at the Nova tech Explosion. Participation, Level 1 and Level 2 swimmers will get to travel out of the HRM for the first time this year for a fast finish to the year, and maybe a little fun as well at the end of the session.
