MAC Spring Invitational Travel Meet
13 SWAT Senior group swimmers made the trip to Ontario to race at the MAC Spring invitational against some new faces from Ontario clubs. The group earned 39 best times and managed to appear in 13 Finals events. This meet was a rare opportunity to race against a new group of competitors in a more competitive environment, and in a big 10 Lane 50m pool in Markham Ontario.
Gabe A came away with 3 best times on the weekend. He bettered his 100 Breaststroke by 4 seconds and bested his (very) old 100 Free time by over 6 seconds. His new 100 Free LCM time will be included in his Nova Scotia Canada Games Identification list. Jack had a perfect 6-for-6 weekend. He improved his 200 IM by 5 seconds. He also had a PB sweep in the Breaststroke events. He took his 200 time down by 11 seconds, swimming the event under 3:00 for the first time LCM. He also made his first East Coast Championships standard in the 50 Breaststroke qualifying him for racing in mid July. Maggie made the journey for 3 best times including an admirable 2 second improvement in the 50 Breaststroke. Victoria earned 2 hard fought best times in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke events. Ethan earned 2 PBs and raced in 4 finals. Eugene earned a 15 second best time on the first day of competition in the 800 Free and raced in 3 finals. Taite won 2 Best times including a 5 second improvement in the 400 Free. He also made an appearance in 1 final. Nic was a perfect 6-for-6 on the weekend and appeared in 1 final. He took off 3 seconds in that 200 Breaststroke final. He also adds 100 Butterfly to his Nova Scotia Canada Games Identification list. Alana made a PB in a Sprint event. Ben P earned 2 personal bests as well. Haley improved 1 time on the weekend and appeared in the 100 and 200 Fly finals. Her 100 Fly will join her 50 Fly on her Canada Games ID list. Sam had a big LCM meet with 6 best times, including: 6 seconds in the 50 Breaststroke, 5 off in the 200 Free and 50 Fly, and his new 50 Free time meets the East Coast Champs standard. Jesstine bettered 4 of her times. She had a strong 200 Breaststroke by taking ff 4 seconds.
There is a quick turn around for these swimmers as they get back in the racing pool the next weekend at AAA #3 at Dalhousie May 23-24. They will be joined by there other AAA Senior group members and AAA Junior swimmers. Then shortly after, June 13-15 AAA swimmers (hopefully including some new faces after AA Summer Champs) race at AAA Nova Scotia Summer Championships at Dalhousie. In July, any qualified swimmers will be racing in St. John, NB at East Coast Championships from July 10-14. Swimmers from Junior and Senior that are interested in Open Water racing may compete on July 8 at Long Lake in HRM.
