January Meet Review (NT)
SWAT swimmers began their 2025 racing campaign at two levels on the weekend of January 18-19. On Saturday, January 18 AA Age Group swimmers raced at two sessions at Centennial Pool in Halifax. The following day, Sunday, January 19, The Nova Tech swimmers took to the lanes at Centennial for the first Nova Tech meet of the New Year. 61 swimmers raced over the two days earning a total of 107 Best Times. There were also many first time events and many rare and unfamiliar events. 4 swimmers qualified for higher competition and several others added pre-requisites for higher competition to their portfolio.
On Sunday, January 19 the SWAT Nova Tech swimmers took over Centennial Pool for the third installment of the Nova Tech Series. 41 SWAT swimmers from Novice, Tidalwaves, and Miniwaves represented the club. Together they swam to 63 new personal bests and swam in 32 1st events. Three swimmers added AA prerequisite times and are now fully AA qualified. Additionally, 4 swimmers are elevated to Nova Tech Level 2 and are subject to disqualification and 3 Miniwaves are elevated from Participation to Level 1.
Novice sent 6 swimmers to race at NT3. They earned 13 best times and swam 8 first time events. 3 swimmers added AA qualifiers to their portfolio to complete their graduation from Nova Tech. Alex B debuted his Novice racing career with 1 best time and 2 1sts. He dropped 12 seconds off his old 100 IM time and swam his first 100 Breaststroke under 2:00. Isaiah was a perfect 3 for 3 and finished qualifying for AA after a 35 second best time in the 200 Free. Kayden is now also AA qualified after shaving 7 seconds off his 100 IM. He also swam two events for the first time. Maanya broken the 1:00 mark in the 50 fly after cutting 13 seconds from her old time and she swam two races for the first time. Sophia had 2 best times and 1 first time on the day including a big 28 second improvement in the 50 Fly. Mylee had 3 best times from 3 events. She cut the 50 fly by 9 seconds and after bettering her old 200 Free time by 10 she makes the Jump to AA in February. Matt was also 3 for 3 and had a 4 second PB in the 50 Free. Angel swam her first 100 Free.
The Tidalwaves brought 15 swimmers to race. They achieved 32 best times and swam 4 events for the first time. Patricia swam 3 events for the first time including her first 100 IM and will move from Level 1 to Level 2. Londyn made 3 new best times on the day, all big jumps. She broke 1:00 in the 50 Back after taking off 11 seconds. She also took off 13 and 15 seconds off the 50 Fly and 100 IM respectively. Yashod managed 3 best times from 3 races and moves to Level 2 after cracking the 2:00 mark in the 100 IM. Alex E had two big gains in the 100 IM and the 50 Breaststroke. Liam was 3 for 3 and moves into Level 2 after an 11 second pb in the 100 IM. Victoria swam 3 races for the first time including the 100 IM. Evan continues the 3 for 3 club that joins Level 2 with a 9 second personal best in the 100 IM. Freddie took big chunks off his 100 IM and 50 Back times with 12 and 14 second improvements. Olivia knocked 17 seconds off her old 50 Breaststroke as one of her 3 best times. Evelyn M also dropped over 10 second in her 50 Breaststroke and her 100 IM. Xavier had some modest improvements in 2 races. Kai earned 2 best times including 11 seconds off in the 50 Fly. Natalie was 3 for 3 for best times. Lesi found 2 new best times including a 7 second improvement in the 50 Fly.
17 Miniwaves swimmers joined the fun across the Participation and Level 1 competition groups. They earned 17 best times and raced in 21 events for the first time. Beckett swam in 3 first time races and was under 30 seconds in the 25 Free. Jackson had 2 best times and swam his first 100 IM. He was also under 30 in the 25 Free and will be joining the Level 1 side of the pool at the next meet. Miles earned 2 best times and dropped 4 seconds in the 25 Free to go faster than 30 for the first time in the event. Kyle had 1 best time, a sub 30 Back 25. Yazhini made her racing debut for the season and raced in her first 3 events. Edehi bettered her old 25 Free time to under 30 seconds and swam 2 new events including the 100 IM. She will make the journey to the Level side of the pool at the next meet. Malia was strong in a 3 for 3 best times performance. She dropped over 14 seconds in her 25 Breaststroke. Leah had 1 best time and 1 new event. She swam her first 25 Fly in under 30 seconds. Alexa raced in her first 100 IM and posted a time faster than 30 in the 25 Back. Evie swam her first 3 races in competition. Charley had 2 best times: 6 seconds the 25 Free and 9 seconds int eh 25 Breaststroke. James raced to 1 new personal best and in 1 new event. He is now under 30 seconds in the 25 Free and 25 Back. He will be joining the Deep End for Level 1 competition at NT4. Mahek got first times in 2 events. Colden raced in 3 new events and is under 30 in the 25 Back and 25 Fly. In the deep end of the pool the Level 1 Miniwaves continued the club success. Madeleine had 2 best times including a 13 second PB in the 100 IM. Peyton G swam 2 races faster than before. And Payton H had a massive 37 second improvement in the 100 IM as part of her 2 best times.
Nova Tech 4 will take place on February 15 and the Novice Swimmers that graduated to AA will begin their Age Group careers on February 8.
