Distance Meets Review
The AGD Distance Central and North meets were a powerful showcase of growth, grit, and determination for the Sackville Waves Aquatic Team. Across both competitions, swimmers delivered a remarkable 81 personal bests, with 9 swims improving by over 30 seconds and 26 more dropping at least 15 seconds—a testament to the team’s relentless work ethic and positive momentum.
Among the standout performances, three swimmers made truly jaw-dropping leaps forward. Maggie Donnelly carved an astonishing 58.28 seconds off her 800 Free, the largest improvement of the meets. Not far behind, Ryan Tang surged ahead with a 57.68-second drop in the same event, while Angus Hiltz slashed 41.82 seconds from his 400 Free. These swims weren’t just fast—they were transformational.
Each competitive group had its own highlights. In the Senior Provincial category, swimmers like Samuel Henriksen and Erica Roberts posted double-digit drops showing that progress isn’t always about time—it’s about confidence and control. The Senior Atlantic group saw massive strides from Cohen Comeau and Julia Campbell, both of whom posted multiple improvements over 25 seconds. The Junior Atlantic swimmers impressed with Jaehyeok Choi’s 18.75-second drop in the 400 Medley and consistent gains from Gabriel Cormier and Erica Brown. Meanwhile, the Junior Provincial group was bursting with energy—August Mao dropped 46.05 seconds in the 400 Medley, Wyatt Kerrivan cut 34.02 seconds, showing that younger swimmers are charging forward with confidence.
From seasoned seniors to rising juniors, every swimmer contributed to a weekend of personal victories and team pride. The numbers tell a story of progress, but the heart behind each swim is what truly defines this team. Let’s keep building on this momentum—because the best is yet to come.
The next meets upcoming include: AGD 3 November 22 and 23 at Centennial Pool in Halifax, and Candy Cane Invitational in Truro at the Wilson Aquatic Center December 12-14.
