January 29, 2025

January 24 and 25 the SWAT AAA swimmers began their LCM journey over two sessions at DALplex. The swimmers haven’t raced Long Course since the Summer and there were a few that made their AAA debut and lots of first time LCM events as a result of the AA/AAA Swim NS system. 18 swimmers participated from the Senior and Junior groups. In total, SWAT swimmers earned 41 best times and swam 13 events for the first time. We also had one swimmer qualify for East Coast Champs competition.

The Senior group sent 15 swimmers to compete. Gabe A missed Friday due to illness but earned 1 best time on Saturday: a 10 second PB in the 200 Back. Jack earned a best time in the 200 IM. Alana swam 5 races while managing a persistent injury. Ben P dropped 2 times: 14 seconds of in the 200 Back and 7 seconds off in the 100 Fly. Joel had 2 personal bests in infrequent events like the 400 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Haley also had 2 best times topped by a 10 second improvement in the100 Back. Jesstine had 4 best times from 5 events highlighted by breaking 1:30 for the first time LCM in the 100 Breaststroke by dropping 3 seconds.

3 Junior swimmers took on the AAA Meet as well. Nick H, a AAA mainstay was joined by Junior AAA newcomers, Addison and Sam H. Addison swam 5 LCM events for the first time with her only LCM competition coming in April of last year. Her 200 Freestyle was under the East Coast Champs standard. Sam H was also in his first LCM meet since April and swam 4 events LCM for the first time and bettered his 200 Free time from April by 9 seconds. Nick H was a perfect 5 for 5 validating his SCM success with big LCM drops. He took his 400 IM PB down by 19 seconds, his 200 Breaststroke by 20, and his 400 Free down by 27 seconds.

AAA swimmers continue racing on February 22 and will be joined by Senior group member Maggie who qualified for AAA competition at the AA meet earlier this month. AAA Champs are just 6 weeks away!
