AA Pentathlon Championship Review

May 9-10 in Sydney, NS 10 SWAT swimmers took on the AA Pentathlon Championship. This is a new format for the annual meet in Cape Breton where swimmers race in a 50m of each stroke and a 100m IM. They were also able to swim in one 200m of their choice. Each gender was scored 1-16 in the 12u, 13-14, and 15o age groups in each race. The total score of those events determined the Pentathlon Champion.

Alex B finished with 4 best times including a sub 3:00 200 Back after a 20 second improvement. Gabe C took a 100 IM best time home from Sydney.. Henry returned to racing with 4 best times and hos first 200 Back. Alex E also had his first SCM 200 Back and 5 best times. Liam took off 25 seconds in the 200 IM as the top performance of his 5 personal bests. Victoria left Cape Breton with 4 best times including an 11 seconds best times in the 50 Breast. Kayden earned 2 personal bests. Camden finished his first 200 Fly SCM and had 5 best times including a 3 seconds better 50 Butterfly. Tidalwave swimmer Robin made her Age Group debut with 3 best times and her first 200 Backstroke. Wrapping up the SWAT contingent is Isaiah. He had a perfect 6-for-6 weekend. His performances also earned him the trophy for top Male 13-14 Swimmer.

May 22-23 will have the AAA Pentathlon Championship at Dalhousie University. Championship Season begins that same weekend with Nova Tech Swimmers racing in Truro at the Nova Tech Explosion May 23-24. Two weeks later back in Truro the top 12u swimmers in AA, AAA, and Nova Tech will participate in the inaugural 12U Festival. The final meet on the Swim NS calendar is NS Spring Championships June 11-14. Championship Season continues for qualifiers beyond Nova Scotian borders; Canadian Swimming Trials goes July 5-9 in Montreal, QC and East Coast Championships runs July 10-14 in St. John's, NFLD.
